The Bamboo and Rope Low Lounge Chair is a handcrafted piece that brings a relaxed, tropical vibe to any space. The entire frame is constructed from heat-treated bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper) poles, each 25 mm in diameter. The bamboo is harvested at 4 years of age, then smoked and heat-bent to achieve the chair’s distinctive, sweeping curves. The joints are secured with mortise-and-tenon joinery and wrapped with natural rattan lashing, for a glue-free, hardware-free construction. The seat and back are woven from 100% natural cotton rope (12 mm diameter), using a traditional ‘square knot’ pattern. The rope is hand-knotted by artisans in Vietnam; each chair consumes approximately 120 meters of rope and takes 6 hours to knot. The rope is untreated, so it has a soft, slightly fuzzy texture. The chair sits very low to the ground – its seat height is only 28 cm – emulating traditional floor chairs from Southeast Asia. A thin (4 cm) cotton cushion in a natural cream color is included for added comfort, secured with four ties. The cushion is filled with polyester fiberfill. Dimensions: 65 cm width x 75 cm depth x 70 cm height, seat height 28 cm, armrest height 48 cm. Weight: 7 kg. Max load: 100 kg (cotton rope has good tensile strength but lower stretch recovery). Assembly: none – fully assembled, as the bamboo frame is shipped in one piece. Care: keep indoors or under covered patio; avoid moisture as cotton rope can mildew; rope can be spot cleaned with mild soap; do not soak. The bamboo frame can be wiped with a damp cloth; occasionally apply bamboo oil. Warranty: 1 year on rope weaving, 2 years on bamboo frame.
