The Wingback Tufted Armchair is a regal addition to any traditional or transitional interior, offering both historic charm and modern comfort. The frame is constructed from kiln-dried solid birch (Betula alleghaniensis), a dense, shock-resistant hardwood with a fine, even texture. All joints are mortise-and-tenon, reinforced with corner blocks and wood glue – no staples. The chair’s iconic ‘wing’ panels extend from the backrest to the armrests, originally designed to shield the sitter from drafts in old English manor houses. These wings are upholstered and feature a decorative welt cord trim. The backrest is deeply button-tufted in a classic diamond pattern, with each button hand-tied to the inside frame. The upholstery fabric is a high-performance polyester (100% polyester, 380 gsm) in a rich, muted teal color. It has a Martindale rub count of 100,000 cycles, making it extremely durable for residential and light commercial use. The fabric is also treated with a stain-resistant finish that repels water-based spills for up to 30 seconds, giving you time to blot. The seat cushion is reversible and zippered; it contains a pocket coil system (160 individual pocket springs) wrapped in high-density foam (30 kg/m³) and a layer of polyester batting for a plush yet supportive feel. The back cushion is fixed (not removable) and is filled with a blend of shredded foam and polyfill. The rolled arms are lined with foam, and the front edge of the seat has a waterfall shape to reduce pressure behind the knees.
